I'm a huge fan of feeding a group of teenagers and saving them the time and money of dining out.
Homecoming dinner went off without a hitch for my son and his group. My husband made an amazing dinner while I spent the day making corsages, cleaning and setting the table. We had get-to-know you games for each course, (in the little white bags on the table) which was nice because my son didn’t know the other kids in his group.
The Table Setting...
I decided to go with black and gold. A friend had the candle sticks, plates and flatware. I got the vases, gold chargers and gold ornaments from the dollar store. The flowers came from my garden and I already had the candles. It was easy and elegant. Actually lighting the candles is a nice touch for any meal. Designed a custom paper napkin ring for the occasion, and done!
What's on the Menu...
First off, my husband is amazing. He did all the cooking. We borrowed this awesome serving pan from our neighbor (and I totally didn't get any other food pictures. How is that possible!)
Drinks: soda with flavored syrups
Course 1: mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce Course 2: Caesar salad Course 3: homemade lasagna, baked chicken tortellini and artisan bread Course 4: a yummy chocolate dessert from costco (because who has time to bake with all the other cooking going on!) The kids were actually so full from the awesome dinner that they hardly touched the dessert - which is truly best serviced after the dance. So I would do with something more like a bitesize treat to freshen their breath instead of dessert.
It was amazingly delicious. Better food than a restaurant. And well, we didn't have the other boys pay us for anything. We were happy to do it! Spent less than $100 on food and décor. Even better, we had leftovers for us that lasted a couple days.
