Mystery Show & Tell

A fun and easy Get-To-Know-You.

I put this idea together for our group of young ladies ages 9-10. Honestly, I think it would be great for all ages as a fun get-to-know-you activity. Each girl is given a lunch size paper bag and this note a couple days before the activity. They are to bring 3 items that fit in this small bag that are clues about themselves. Here's an activity outline that might help:

  1. all bags are put together on the table, or the center of your circle.

  2. one person will pick a bag and pull out the contents. Everyone can guess who they think it belongs to. The person who chose the bag, however, gets the final guess and gives the bag to the person they choose.

  3. Whether the guess was correct or not, that person keeps the bag and then they choose the next one to guess. Repeat steps 1-3 until all the bags have been presented.

  4. Next, go around in a circle and each participant says whether they have the right bag or not. After a quick 'yes' or 'no' from everyone, exchange bags so each person has their own, and then take turns explaining what the items in their bag represent. Show & Tell

It's as easy as that. Plan some other activities to fill the time, such as "would you rather" or "never have I ever." I like to actually move to sides of the room for "would you rather." Movement helps keep them engaged.

*this poem ends with "child of God" instead of daughter of God, so it can be used for all.
