Pet Adoption Party

I love children birthday parties. My kids are getting older, sadly, so I'm reminiscing of one of my favorites. Sadie's Pet Adoption Party.

It was a small group of friends which turned out perfectly. They got to choose an animal to adopt, take it to the vet, make a collar, a blanket and decorate a house. They had pet food snacks and just the most fun through the whole adoption process. The best part was the pretend play with their new pets.

Here's a little breakdown of things...

When the kiddos arrived, they chose their pet from a basket of Beanie Boos. (I went to several different craft stores to find all completely different pets, and used the craft store coupons.)

Next stop - the vet. Where they gave their pet a checkup. This included a checkup sheet for them to fill out.

On to making a collar. This consisted of ribbons, sticky velcro and charms from the craft store jewelry section. Easy enough they could do it all themselves.

Our last stop, and the one the girls enjoyed the most, was Decorate a House for your Pet. I had felt for them to make a little blanket. They snipped little strips around the edges. Then they had stickers, gems, washi tape, markers and stamps to decorate to their hearts content. I picked up these "houses" at Hobby Lobby for a dollar. LINK

Forgo the typical cake and ice cream - the girls snacked while they played. There was Swedish Fish "Cat Treats," sour gummy worms "Bird Treats," and custom chocolate bone cookies as the "Dog Treats." The girls were in heaven.

We finished things off with an official Certificate of Adoption.

I loved designing for this party. Making everything look like a huge $$PARTY$$. But I like to have fun on the frugal side. You wouldn't know it though, by all the details.

You can get this huge bundle in my shop. And create a party your kids, and their friends, will remember for a long time.
